THE CEILING
The central painting of the ceiling, which reproduces the scene of the finding of the Image has it's own story. On the 24th of September 1943 the bombings destroyed the convent and part of the ceiling painting by G. Diano (1775). This noted painter had already repainted the paintings of A. Solimene and others previously ruined. In 1947, Professor G. Canali repainted the scene following Diano's idea.
