THE TABERNACLE OF THE ICON
In 1641, on the left hand side of the central nave, a Neopolitan artist constructed the elegant tabernacle made of polychrome marble and porphyry, which houses the Icon of Materdomimi. Legend says that the image was found exactly in this point and that it would be bad luck to move it elsewhere.
